About
Jewellery studio Hellena Hueck crafts wearables inspired by personal anecdotes, humour, and observations of nature and other vibrating matter. Hueck is a trained goldsmith, and holds a Masters in Jewellery and Metalwork from the Royal College of Art in London, where she lived between 2018 and 2023. The studio’s lines include a signature collection and personalised jewellery commissions. Silver pieces cast using wax relief processes often have multiple components, tendrils or tails. Hueck’s X-stitch motif yokes free spirited DIY and experimental cultures to craftsmanship: precious metals are hewn to found objects—corks, pencils—and speckled with gemstones like psychedelic dew drops. Key references include Ursula K. le Guin’s ‘Carrier Bag of Fiction’, and Camilla Grudova's short story ‘The Gothic Society'. Formerly one half of Jewellery brand Layan Hell, for over a decade Hueck has developed non-hierarchical dialogues between jewellery, objects and personal anecdotes, involving self-organised and interdisciplinary collaborations, often for visual art contexts. Recent highlights include Memory Foam (2023) at V.O Curations with American painter Ella Belenky. Hellena Hueck is currently based in Berlin.
